TWW Series 2 Story 2 Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Another Tragic Loss but Still Much to Celebrate.
Everyone had fallen silent for a while, to calm their beating hearts. But suddenly the silence was broken by a desperate wail. Timber, the brown and black Fox, was standing over the limp body of Shard. The black and grey Fox was dead…his neck had been broken. It was plain to see, even from a distance. Rose and Bronze ran to comfort their Tribe Mate.
Pit went to see, too. He remembered being told that Timber and Shard were Cousins.
Timber looked up, his yellow eyes swimming with tears. “I…I need to bury him…now.”
Rose nuzzled him, “He needs to be buried at home, Timber…where the Tribe can honour and mourn him.”
Pit decided to ask Nyma to take the Foxes home.
“Of course, Pit.” Nyma said kindly, “I’m sorry for your loss…he was a very brave Fox and great Peace Keeper…He will be well looked after in Star Haven, I promise.”
Rose and Bronze helped to put Shard’s body over Timber’s back. Then, the Foxes disappeared with Nyma’s Transportation Power.
Everyone had gone silent again. The shock of Shard’s death had taken its toll on them all. After some time, Luider spoke up.
“I’m sorry that a kind Peace Keeper has lost his life. On the plus side, we have much to celebrate. I am free, the water is cleared of poison…and Akuma, who was once a deadly enemy…has now become our friend.”
Every bowed their heads at the mention of Shard. Pit knew he would be safe with the other Spirits. They would welcome him warmly.
Luider turned to Pit, “You are a good example to all Wolves of the Kingdom, young Pit. I feel honoured to be a Peace Keeper alongside you.”
A mass of cheers arose from the group. Akahde and Mitsuishi came forward to nuzzle Pit.
“He really is the greatest Leader.” Mitsuishi smiled.
“And the greatest Captain!” Rubeth added.
“And the greatest friend!” Kuro chipped in.
There were more cheers. Pit felt so glad to have so many kind and brave friends.
Tansor, one of the Juroshukas spoke up, “We should all head to our homes now, right Leader?” He turned to Sakyu, who nodded.
Everyone agreed. After many goodbyes and friendly nuzzles, the Island residents all went their separate ways…that is, everyone except Rain and Azure. Rain was looking confused while Azure was looking at…Kuro.
“Something went on between them while you were looking for Luider.” Rain whispered in Pit’s ear, “I think they like each other…I think they’re in love. What should I do?”
Azure turned to her Brother, “I want to go to the land, Brother…I want to be with Kuro.”
Pit looked at Kuro. The young black, winged Wolf had gone very soft. “I would love to have you as my mate, Azure…If your Brother doesn’t mind.”
Rain began to smile and shook his head, “If it makes my Sister happy…then I’m fine with it.”
Azure told her Brother that he was to come, too. Rain wasn’t so sure at first. “I heared Kuro and Tempest live alone in a den and Kuro’s Father is with them, too…won’t it be crowded?”
Tempest shook his head. “No.” he said, “That den is big enough to fit a whole Pack in. which is good because I’m sure we’ll be getting some cubs running around before too long.”
“Oh I do hope so!” Azure brushed her muzzle against Kuro’s cheek.

At last, thanks to Nyma’s Transportation Power, they were all back on the Snow Plains, just outside the Snow Plain Pack Den-Land. Kuro, Tempest, Azure and Matheus said their goodbyes and left for their own little Den-Land. Pit lead Akahde, Mitsuishi, Cody and Elise into the Den-Land where they were greeted by the whole Pack.
“Lady Nyma sent a message to us that you’d be returning home any time soon.” Ferasa smiled.
“Father, you have to tell us what happened!” Roy yipped excitedly.
“Well, since everyone’s gathered out here…we’ll have a meeting.” Pit said, smiling. He leapt up onto the Meeting Rock and began. He told the Pack of the events on the Island, of the new friends he had met, about Akuma becoming their friend and about Kuro getting a mate. He also mentioned the tragic death of Shard. The Pack bowed its head and fell silent for a few moments. Then Pit continued, “For now, Guardian Island is safe and well again. However, it will face threat again…and I will need four of you to join me again.”
Everyone nodded and grunted in agreement. Pit went to his den to get some sleep.
